Robert E Ostrum Sr 86 of Ormond Beach Florida Formally of Martinsville Indiana and Emporium Pennsylvania passed away in Daytona Beach Florida on January 30 2009.
Born June 2 1922 in Emporium Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Fred and Violet nee Barr Ostrum. Mr. Ostrum was raised in Emporium Pennsylvania and moved to Martinsville Indiana in 1951. He worked as a millwright for the RCA Plant formally located in Avon Indiana and retired in July 1983. Mr. Ostrum served as a mechanic state side in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. Mr. Ostrum was an avid sports fan and was given the honor of being the Commissioner of the Martinsville Baseball / Softball League in 1985. He received an award for being a great fan and supporting the Martinsville Baseball / Softball Organization. He was a member of the NRA RCA Conservation Club of Indiana. Before moving out of Martinsville Mr. Ostrum was a member of the Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Ruth nee Billings his parents Fred Ostrum and Violet nee Barr Ostrum. A sister Rose Griffith of Emporium Pennsylvania and two brothers Keith Ostrum of Erie Pennsylvania and Samuel Ostrum of Senecaville Ohio. He is survived by a sister Gladys Miller of Emporium Pennsylvania Melvin Ostrum of St Ramey France and a brother Kenneth Ostrum of Emporium Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 7 Children: Sandra Satterfield of Indianapolis Indiana Violet Tackett of Martinsville Indiana John Ostrum of Fort Wayne Indiana Robert Ostrum Jr. of Greenfield Indiana Jay Ostrum of Danville Indiana Ronald Ostrum of New Whiteland Indiana and Cherylene Sidler of Greenwood Indiana. He is also survived by 21 grand children and over 40 great and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; and his life partner of thirteen years Marge Addington of Ormond Beach Florida. Mr. Ostrum donated his body to the Shand's Medical Hospital in Florida so he may continue helping others as he has done in his life. No services are pending at this time.
