Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert ‘Mike’ McKown Sr, age 73 on July 21, 2026. He was a loving husband, cherished father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a man whose life was defined by integrity, humor, and unwavering love for his family.

He was a passionate golfer who found joy and peace on the course, but his greatest pride was always the family he built and nurtured. He said if he leaves his children just one thing… it would be that they all have a strong work ethic. He said he wants them to be self-sufficient and know they can survive no matter what is thrown their way -- if they work hard every day. He reinvented himself so many times because of his drive and determination for what needed done for his family. Husband to Lorie for 28 years. Their love was steady, selfless, and enduring, a true example of partnership and commitment.

He was the kind of man who would help anyone in need without hesitation. His generosity knew no bounds, and his character was evident in every action he took. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a laugh, or giving quiet support, he made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Known for his quick wit and warm sense of humor, he brought lightness to every room and left people smiling even in difficult times. His laughter, kindness, and strength will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joey McKown, and his son John Paul McKown. His legacy lives on through his children Michael/Amy McKown, Lisa/Tim Stoerkel, Julie/Paul Kiebler, Ariel/Michael Godley, 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, who carry forward the values he embodied — love, integrity, resilience, and compassion. He also leaves behind two sisters Cathy/Joe McDonough and Amy/Paul Halverson and his niece Shawna McEvoy and nephew Marcus McDonough.

He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered always.

A memorial service will take place on Wednesday July 29 2026 at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast, 220 Palm Coast Parkway SW, Palm Coast, FL 32137.

Calling hour will be Saturday August 1, 2026 from 2 – 4 pm with a service to follow at Vessel Community Church; 5243 US 42, Mt. Gilead, Ohio 43338.
