Edgewater — Robert James

McNamee “Mac” “Pop” went on to be reunited with his lovely Mary Mae on September 14, 2026, in Port Orange, Florida at the age of 92.  Born January 6,1934, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, Robert joined the United States Air Force Force at 18 years old. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1975 after 22 proud years of service to our country, which included active duty in Germany, Thailand, Vietnam. After retirement, he moved his family back to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where his beloved wife was born and raised. They were married 53 years before her passing in January 2010.  After his retirement from the Air Force, he began a new career for the United States Postal Service, for which he spent 20-plus years as a technician before retiring again. During those years, he was also a woodworking instructor for Daytona State College for 11 years. After his second retirement, he went on to work at Turnbull Bay Golf Course well into his 80’s. He had a great love for golf and spent a lot of time hitting the sticks in his retirement years.  He was known by his friends as Mac or Coach Mac, as he spent many years at the fields coaching baseball, football, and umpiring  for SEVAA.  Robert loved to travel the world and shared many stories with his kids and grandkids about his global adventures. He was always regarded as outgoing, with a charming personality. Friends, family, and acquaintances alike knew they could count on him and that he would know someone everywhere they went with him.  Robert was preceded in death by his wife Mary McNamee; his parents Thomas and Evelyn McNamee; one brother, Thomas McNamee; and three sisters, Marge Kilmer, Patricia Hendrickson, and Judy Stephenson.  He is survived by one sister, Rosie Boese; two sons, Bo Mc-Namee (Merry) and Brian McNamee (Pamela); one daughter, Sharon Farmer; six grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.  Go Packers!
