Robert Patrick McDonnell, 77, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. He was surrounded by his three children at the time of his death.

Bob (or 'Mac') was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on February 6, 1938 to Joseph McDonnell and Marie Keane McDonnell, who had recently immigrated from County Clare, Ireland. Bob was married to the love of his life, Marguerite McDonnell, for 49 years before her passing in 2011. Bob graduated from Bentley College in Boston, Massachusetts, with an accounting degree. He lived in Trumbull, Connecticut until 1972, when he relocated with his family to Ormond Beach and served as the Controller of Econo-Car. Bob opened his own accounting business in 1975. McDonnell and Associates served clients up until the time of Bob's death. Bob's passion was working with local small business owners, many of whom had been his clients for over 40 years.

Bob was a pillar of strength and wisdom to his family and he delighted in his grandchildren. Bob loved all sports. He helped raise a generation of baseball players through his leadership in Ormond Beach Youth Baseball and he was an enthusiastic supporter of amateur golf. The highlight of his week was meeting up with his Tuesday golf buddies. He will be greatly missed on the links.

Bob is survived by daughter Sharon Dobbs (Bleckley); son Robert McDonnell, Jr. (Maureen); daughter Eileen Poss (David); and six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Caroline, Christine, Clare, William and Daniel. Bob also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marguerite, and brothers John McDonnell and Thomas McDonnell.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 16th at 11:00 a.m.at St. Brendan's Roman Catholic Church, 1000 Oceanshore Boulevard, Ormond Beach. Interment will follow in Volusia Memorial Park, 550 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach. His family will receive friends on Sunday, March 15th from 4~7 p.m. in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
