Robert Gardiner Maddern, age 90 of Port Orange, FL, died Sunday October 9, 2022. Born in West Haven, Connecticut on May 15, 1932 to Norman and Irma (Serenson) Maddern.
Bob graduated from West Haven High School in 1949. He served honorably in the Marine Corps from January 1951 to January 1954. Upon his discharge from the Marines, Bob married the love of his life, Joan Peccerillo. They started their married life on South Water Street, New Haven, CT. They moved to Cheshire, CT, where they lived for 22 years. Bob and Joan retired to Port Orange, FL and have been living there for over 30 years. Bob has 4 loving children: Bruce (wife Barbara) of Jacksonville, FL; Scott (wife Jan) of Hamilton, MA; Cindy (husband Brian) of Concord, MA; and Allen of South Daytona, FL.
Bob was a Marketing Manager/Sales Executive for AT&T for 30 years. In addition to supporting and loving his family. Bob was a "Baby Cuddler" at the Yale Prenatal ICU, was a Cheshire Town Councilman, baseball coach, Boy Scout leader, Port Orange CountrySide Association Treasurer and President, Port Orange Civil Defense member, as well as other great acts of kindness and generosity.
Bob enjoyed reading, the opera, the beauty of nature, witty conversation, women's college softball and basketball, and life.
Bob is survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also, many loving nieces, nephews and brother-in-law Louis Peccerillo. He is predeceased by his brother Norman, sister Phyllis, sister-in-law Freda P. Foster, Betty Maddern, Roberta C. Peccerillo and brothers-in-law Jim Foster, Bob Kelly and Richard Rideout.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on November 19th from 1-3 PM at the CountrySide Clubhouse at 951 Village Trail, Port Orange, FL. In lieu of flowers please make donations in his memory to Wounded Warriors, www.woundedwarriorproject.org, or to Hospice Care Center, Ormond Beach, FL.
