Robert Lennis, a man tall in stature and respected among men and women alike, passed away on July 7, 2016. Born in Detroit, Michigan on Jan. 2, 1935. This gentle giant married his one true love, Carole and never let go. His height at 6'6", made a memorable first impression. His high school nicknames were High pockets' and Bones'. A high school all-state all-star basketball player, yet he loved baseball and football.

Bob loved his family. Married for 62 yrs. to Carole, they had 8 children together. For Bob, family came first and would do whatever it took to provide for them at times working 3 jobs simultaneously but he never complained and took the highs and lows of life in stride. An Army vet, a mailman, window washer, house painter, life insurance salesman, bartender, it didn't matter the job, he would provide for his family. Then he started a career with Ford Motor Company as freight unloader. Thirty-three years later, he retired as a supervisor for the truck division.

When he wasn't working, he played with his children. Vacations around a campfire at Camp Dearborn, roasting marshmallows, picnics in the park, fishing, going to the zoo and having fun. "What's the plan", was his favorite expression, always wanting to know what was going on. Respected and loved, a man his children looked up to and turn to for anything.

The reward of family love. As their children grew Bob & Carole were blessed with wonderful sons and daughters-in-law and 23 grandchildren. Who in turn, are blessing the family with more in-laws and 13 great grandchildren and counting. Bob was loved by many and his love continues to grow.

Beyond the family Bob dedicated his time to community service. He was an usher in his church for 25 years. He was also member of both the Knights of Columbus and the Alhambra organizations whose purpose is to help others.

A ready smile for one and all, Robert Lennis (aka Bob, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Bob, Great Grandpa, my friend) was a gift to all of us and we will miss him greatly.
