Obituary

Robert La Rocca

It is with great sadness and love that I announce the passing of Robert "Rocky" La Rocca on September 17, 2021.  Robert was born September 29, 1934 to Robert Joseph and Claudia (Clara) Faroese La Rocca in Brooklyn, NY.  He is predeceased by his son Robert J. La Rocca and his brother Thomas La Rocca.  Robert is survived by his wife Pamela, daughter Claudia (Edward), four grandchildren: Kristina, Ashley, Edward Jr., Angelina, and five great-grandchildren.

Robert attended Music and Art high school in NY, NY.  He was an accomplished pianist, he had five recitals at Carnegie Hall ending in 1949 and was accepted to Juilliard School of Music.  He was a member of the Boy Scouts earning 33 merit badges and became an Eagle Scout and received 2 Eagle Palms by the age of 16.

Robert joined the US Navy from 1952 - 1953.  Then went into the Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1953 - 1960.  He earned two honorable discharges.  After leaving the military he worked in a paint factory, opened an Italian restaurant, and then moved on to be a police officer in Edison, NJ and held the position of State Delegate.  After early retirement from the police force due to on the job injuries he became Vice President for a food corporation.

He was Commander of the American Legion Post 348 in Brick, NJ for five years accomplishing many great achievements for the Post and veterans.  He was also a member of the VFW and Elks Lodge. He loved riding motorcycles throughout this great country.  Rocky moved to Florida from New Jersey to have a fulfilling retirement where he met and married his wife Pamela Parker La Rocca.

A visitation will be held from 2-2:30 pm on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:30 p.m., at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 W. Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL.  The burial will be at Volusia Memorial Park at 3 pm, with Marine Corps Honors.
