Surrounded by his loving family, Robert L. Adams passed away peacefully January 11, just months shy of his 80th birthday.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Bob often said the greatest gift his parents ever gave him was relocating to the Daytona Beach area. He was a graduate of Seabreeze High School (1960), and a veteran of the United States Air Force (1965). He attended Daytona Beach Junior College and then went on to obtain his B.A. Degree in Marketing from the University of South Florida. Following graduation, Bob worked as the top producer within the computer sales division at RCA in South Florida.

In 1967, Bob married Ryan Anderson. They welcomed their first child, John, in 1971, and later that year relocated to Ormond Beach where Bob entered the real estate profession to work alongside his mother, Helen Adams, in her boutique real estate firm with just five other agents. Bob earned his Graduate, Realtor Institute (GRI) designation with the highest grade ever obtained in the State of Florida. He became a partner and sales manager of Helen Adams Realty in 1974. In 1978, Helen Adams Realty merged with Cameron Realty, and Bob was appointed President & Chief Executive Officer of Adams, Cameron & Co., REALTORS. Together, Bob and Helen swiftly grew Adams, Cameron & Co. into the area's largest real estate company, redefining the way real estate was transacted in the local area.

Some of Bob's positions and honors within the early years of his profession included first President and Chairman of the Board of the Realty World Brokers Council of East Central Florida; founding Director of International Association of Realty World Brokers; President & Founder of Florida Showcase of Homes, Inc.; and recipient of 1979 Board of Realtors Diamond Pin Award.

In 1982, Bob founded Adams Cameron Title Company. In the coming years, Bob had the honor and privilege to serve as the President of the Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors. Bob was a recipient of Realtor of the Year 1991, Special Merit Award 1995, Quarter Century Club 1997, Honorary Lifetime Member 2001, and Realtor Emeritus 2012. Additionally, he was one of the few local real estate professionals to have the honor to serve on the state level as a board member of the Florida Association of Realtors. In 1978, he was one of five industry leaders selected to rewrite the text material for the courses required to obtain a Florida Brokers and Salesman's license.

Outside of the real estate community, Bob was active in organizations such as Daytona Beach Quarterback Club, University Club, and the Ormond Beach Rotary Club where his passion for helping others within the community led him to become a three-time Paul Harris Award recipient. He contributed to a multitude of charitable organizations and served on numerous local boards. Bob enjoyed friendships and memberships in Beech Mountain Country Club, Halifax River Yacht Club, Oceanside Country Club, and The Rock Harbor Club of Key Largo.

After serving on several local bank boards over many years, Bob took great pride and enjoyed his role as founder and Chairman of the Board of Coquina Bank. He led the bank board successfully side-by-side with some of his dearest friends for years.

Bob had a passion for our local area and loved to take his family to Ponce Inlet by boat on the weekends, stopping along the way at Down The Hatch where he was welcomed by name. He also had a lifetime of love for the Florida Keys that started with trips to Breezy Palms in Islamorada with his parents as a teenager. Many years later, he and his wife Ryan bought a second home nearby where they enjoyed idle speed cruises to long lunches with friends and their growing family. Bob was notorious for spur-of-the-moment travels to the NC mountains with his wife and children. After exploring every little mountain town, he and Ryan ultimately made Beech Mountain their longtime getaway and enjoyed entertaining guests and having large family gatherings featuring Bob's fabulous gourmet meals and stories around the fireplace.

Bob leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Ryan; four children, John (Rene), Erin, Ryan (Lindsey), and Lauren; and nine grandchildren who lovingly call him "GrandBob." When Bob made the decision to transition into a semi-retirement role a few years ago, his grandchildren became his full time job and he showered them with love daily in the family home. Those of us who are fortunate enough to be his immediate family are aware that he touched so many lives and considered many people in the community his extended family, offering support and love.

We invite all who knew and loved Bob to join us in celebrating his life at 10:00 am Thursday, January 20. 2022 at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 100 Ocean Shore Blvd., Ormond Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Adams Cameron Foundation in memory of Bob Adams. The Foundation that Bob co-founded is one of his proudest accomplishments and is diligently managed by a board of wonderful people who respond to the needs of our local community.
