Robert W. Jackson Jr, 86 a long time resident of Daytona / Port Orange area passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Jan 28th, 2014. He was born on August 22, 1927 near Chicago IL. There will be a celebration of his life with Mary Derringer ministering and singing, at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Avenue. A public viewing will be held at 9:30-10:30AM.
As a young man, Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Allen, on Feb 2, 1948 and raised 3 wonderful children. In 1969 he bought the Dunes Motel and the family moved to Daytona Beach. In 1973, he and Dorothy gave their hearts to the Lord Jesus, and heeded the call to preach the gospel. His ministry spanned the next 30 years, and included the founding of the Early Church of Jesus in Holly Hill and Community Christian Church in New Smyrna.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, 3 loving children: Robert III (Della), Barbara (Michael), James (Candy), grandchildren: Aimee (Jason), Jessie, Steve (Jenny), and Chris. Great grandchildren: Kallie, Michael, Marlin, Alycia, and Brody.
Robert's final resting place will be at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie RD Jacksonville, FL
