Funeral Mass for Robert John Wilson Sr. 67 of South Daytona who passed away on December 15 2006 will be held at 9 a.m. on Tuesday December 19 2006 at The Basilica of St. Paul with Reverend Tim Daly officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Lawn Cemetery in Jacksonville. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday December 18 2006 at the Baggett & Summers Chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes. Robert was born on June 8 1939 to the late Robert and Anna Wilson in Brooklyn NY. At age 16 he and his family moved to Mt. Home NC where he lived until he was 20. He then came to Jacksonville where he joined the US Navy. After being honorably discharged he was employed by Pearson's Foods (Pantry Pride) where he worked his way up from bag clerk to executive buyer of produce and bakery. He met and married Martha Ray Bickley and had three children. He transferred to Merritt Island then to Daytona Beach where he remained a loyal employee until the business closed in 1986. Robert then opened a Laundromat called the Ye Ole Washhouse while also managing Captain Coty's Inn Restaurant in South Daytona until retiring in 1995. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Dorothy (Randy) Lodge; son Robert John (Linda) Wilson Jr.; daughter Lynda M. Wilson; grandsons Paul R. Carpenella Jr. and Matthew R. Carpenella; brothers Jay Wilson and Walter Wilson; sisters Loretta (Paul) Reynolds and Anne Collet; four cats Cappucino Picalo Gato Toby and Mattie; and two dogs Little Bear and Lucky. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Martha.
