Robert (Bob) Bruce Irving, Sr., 83 years of age, passed away from natural causes on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Advent Health Hospital in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Bob was born in Somerville, Massachusetts to the late Nelson Wood and Eunice Irving. He was the younger brother of Nelson (Sunny) Wood, Jr. Who preceded him in death. After concluding his service in the Coast Guard Bob worked in the security industry for several companies including Wells Fargo, Northeast, 3M, and Sentry Alarm & Security in various roles such as private detective, armed security and response, alarm monitor, field supervisor, and Special Police Officer for Brandeis University.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted second wife of 57 years Beverly Jean and their daughter Sherylann DiSalvo and her husband Scott. He is survived by three of his children from his previous marriage, David Dwight Irving, Lisa Marlene Turner, and Thomas Nelson Irving. His grand children Jessica Christine King and husband Rhett and Amy Marie Irving. His great grand children Jett Robert and Bowie Rhett King. His sister-in-law Nancy Irving, and his nephews Steve and wife Pam, Gary and wife Peggy, Bruce and wife Patty, Glen and wife Dawn, Jay and wife Janet.
He is preceded in death by his son from his first marriage Robert Bruce Irving, Jr., his daughter with Beverly, Julie Ann Irving, and his nephew William (Billy) Irving
During his younger years he enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, working on home improvement projects, and eating Chinese food from Kowloon's in Saugus, steak and cheese subs from Al Zack's Subs in East Boston, Boston roast beef sandwiches, and pickles. As he aged, he loved procuring items and selling them in flea markets as well as collecting models of rockets and space shuttles.
He will be laid to rest Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery and a memorial service will be held in the fall.
His family and friends will miss his presence and unique charm. No longer by our sides forever in our hearts.
