A Memorial Service for Robert Donald Hetherington age 88 of Flamingo Avenue Daytona Beach FL will be held Tuesday May 9 2006 in the chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. Reverend Bob Moorehead will officiate at the service at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00?2:00 PM.
Robert passed away on May 2 2006 at Halifax Medical Center. Born on March 12 1918 in Darby PA. outside of Philadelphia he served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII and was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant.
His parents had moved to Daytona Beach in the 1940?s. His mother Julia Brett Hetherington was a past president of the Halifax Women?s Club and loyal member of St. Mary?s Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach. His father Robert D. Hetherington Sr. was a long time local business owner of a machining company in The Daytona Airport Industrial Park.
Robert moved to Daytona Beach in 1968 from Mt. Laurel NJ and was an investor in residential real estate. As a young man Bob was a competitive Track & Field runner. He loved Ballroom Dancing golfing boating and fishing. He also loved the seashore and to body surf even as an older man. Bob also enjoyed bee-keeping. He was a member of The Society of Friends in NJ. And the Moose Lodge #1263 of Daytona Beach FL.
Robert is survived by 4 daughters; Bonnie Hetherington Robson of Daytona Beach FL. Lark Coles of Mt. Laurel NJ. Wendy Hetherington of Grand Junction CO and Holly Lockwood also of Grand Junction CO. 2 step-daughters; Joan Cunningham of Ormond Beach FL and Donna Kerman of Martinsville VA. His 1st wife Ruth Collins Hetherington Coggiola of Grand Junction CO. and a sister; Mary Wright of Madison Mississippi. He was predeceased by his second wife Janice.
