Robert Elmer Haynes passed away peacefully on March 30 2013 at Hospice of Florida Hospital in Ormond Beach Florida. He had recently celebrated his 92nd birthday. "Bob" lived for the past 32 years in South Daytona Florida. He was born on March 2 1921 in Providence Rhode Island. He graduated from Classical High School and attended Brown University. His studies were interrupted by WWII. In 1942 he married the love of his life Annetta Morrison Green and they happily celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last October. Bob worked for the American Optical Company for over 35 years. He worked in Research and Development and as an Engineer for American Optical in Southbridge Massachusetts and later as American Optical Company plant manager in Frederick Maryland. Bob and Ann retired to South Daytona in 1980. Bob had a keen intelligence and understood cutting edge technology spanning from early radio to advanced computers. He was an amateur radio operator (WIJXQ and W3TG) from his teenage years to his death. He loved Star Trek Dr. Who British sitcoms and political discussions. Bob was predeceased by his parents Charles and Mabel Haynes his brother Charles Haynes his sister Doris Haynes and his son Robert Charles Haynes. He is survived by his loving wife Annetta Haynes his daughter Merilyn Stull (Edward) his daughter Sara Zimmerman (Robert); five grandchildren: John and Mark Zimmerman Cali Hayes Jennifer Hubbs and Heather Harper. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Caleb Haley Ian Adriana Nathan Alexander Colin and Ryan. He was also adored by his rescue dog Winnie. Bob and Ann recently moved to the retirement community of Bishop's Glen and a memorial service will be held in the auditorium there on Sunday April 14 2013 at 3:00pm.
