IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Howard
Evans
October 1, 1938 – February 18, 2026
Robert H. Evans, 87, of Ormond Beach, Florida, formerly of Cobleskill, New York, passed away on February 18, 2026. He was born on October 1, 1938, in Cobleskill, the son of Howard S. and Uva A. (Hotaling) Evans.
A proud graduate of Cobleskill High School, Class of 1957, Bob went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Physical Education from Fulton-Montgomery Community College and continued his studies at Russell Sage College.
On August 19, 1958, Bob married Eileen M. (Collyer), at the Cobleskill United Methodist Church. Together, they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and countless memories before Eileen's passing in 2019.
Bob worked for 32 years at Sterling Insurance Company in Cobleskill before retiring and discovering a new passion in substitute teaching and coaching at Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District. Coaching was especially meaningful to him—whether leading girls modified volleyball, boys modified and freshman basketball, or varsity track and field, he cherished working with young athletes. He often shared stories of the players and moments that stayed with him, and his enthusiasm, encouragement, and humor made a lasting impact on students and colleagues alike.
In 2001, Bob and Eileen relocated to Ormond Beach, Florida, where they enjoyed the sunshine, new friendships, and visits from family.
He is survived by his children: Brian (predeceased by his wife Claire) Evans of Cobleskill, NY; Michael (Kristin) Evans of DeLand, FL; and Tracy Evans of Canajoharie, NY; his brothers Donald (Anne) Evans of Georgia, Thomas Evans of North Carolina, and Richard Evans of Clifton Park, NY; six grandchildren: Brandon Bissel-Evans, Kacie (Richard) Jenkins, Haley Willwerth, Dakota Bissel-Evans, Cathryn (Jacob) Simpson, Jacob Willwerth; two step-grandchildren: Caitlin (Mark) Walseman, David (Karen) O'Neil; and eight great-grandchildren.
Bob will be remembered for his gift for making people feel valued—whether students, coworkers, or friends—and his family and all who knew him will cherish his quick wit, stories, and steady kindness.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in his name to Halifax Health Hospice, 235 Booth Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. A graveside service will be announced and held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohman Funeral Home, Ormond Beach, Florida.
