Bob Elston died peacefully in his sleep on April 25th, 2017.
Bob was the oldest of ten children, born to Bert and Mary Mulhern Elston, five girls and five boys. Two of his siblings, Richard and Kathy, predeceased him. He is survived by Marie Collamore, Don Elston, Eileen Wright, Jerry Elston, Paul Elston, Jean Hewitt, and Patty Elston.
Bob was born in New York City, NY on February 7, 1931, and grew up in West Chester County, New York. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in New York City, and Providence College in Providence, RI. Bob was married to Dorothy Dexter who died in 1964. They had four children. In 1965 Bob married Nita Lee and she adopted the children. Bob was the owner of World Color Inc. in Ormond Beach until he retired.
He was a member of several organizations: Quarterback Club, Planning Board, Citizens for Ormond Beach, Halifax Hospital Board, and Ocean Side Country Club. Bob is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nita Lee Elston; his four children: Stephen (Kathy), Mary Beth Date (Shirish), Maura Regan, Jennifer and Matthew (Annika) Elston; Eileen, Maureen, and Sean Regan; Orion and Rigel Date; Walt (Ashley), Seth, and Steven Jones, and four great grandchildren: Andrew, Jack, Samantha, and Penny. Bob loved sports: sail boat racing as a young adult, tennis and golf later on, and watching the Orlando Magic and U of FL Gators on TV.
He was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and faithfully kept up with the teachings of Charles Stanley, Hal Lindsey, David Jeremiah, and Irvin Baxter. In lieu of a formal service, there will be a celebration of Bob's life at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond, 733 West Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL on Monday, May 1st. Visitation from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm with the Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm.
