Robert Nelson Currie 81 of Palm Coast passed away May 20 2006 at the Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Care Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday May 25 2006 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM on Wednesday in the church memorial room.
Bob was born in Newton MA. He was married to his wife Mary from 1945 until her death in 1997. He served in the U S Navy as Quartermaster 1st Class abourd the Destroyer Escort U.S.S. Riddle in the Pacific during WWII. Bob was a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailors Assoc. and helped organize yearly reunions with fellow shipmates.
After the war Bob worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad; and lived in Brighton MA Concord NH Beverly MA and Montreal Canada. In 1964 Bob changed careers and went to work for GlaxoSmithKline as a sales representative while living in Needham MA and then Clearwater FL. Bob and Mary retired to Palm Coast in 1986. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the art of woodcarving. He was active in many community activities including the New England Club past president the Palm Harbor Men?s Golf Assoc. past president and the Lion?s Club awards? chairman.
Survivors include his daughter Patricia Nash and son-in-law Robert Nash; grandson Timothy Nash all of Wilton CT; granddaughter Caillin Nash of Newton MA; sister-in-law Evelyn Cloherty of Woburn MA and his dear companion Mary LeComte of Palm Coast.
