Obituary

Robert A. "Bob" Crandall, Jr ., age 89, of Ormond Beach, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021.

Bob is survived by daughters, Cathy Masters of DeBary, Cynthia (Richard) Greene of Raleigh, N.C.; sons, Steve (Tammy) Crandall of Salisbury, N.C., Douglas (Susan) Crandall of Ormond Beach, Robert Crandall, III of Staley, N.C. and Clayton Crandall of Cary, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Jefts, James (Jill) Masters, Kelly (Danny) Torres, Steven Crandall (Lauren), Katie Crandall, Chad Crandall, Caitlyn Greene, Kristin Greene, Ethan Crandall, nine great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Rylie, Ruby, Sara, Hudson, Mkenzi, Ashton, Everly, Harper and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Wendy, his beloved wife of 51 years, brothers, Rev. Jack Crandall, Jim Crandall, and son in law, Mick Masters.

Bob was born in Miami, and lived in Miami, Orlando, Ohio, and Virginia. He has resided in Ormond Beach since 2011. Bob was a graduate of Orlando High School and the University of Florida. He began his career with MONY Life Insurance Company in 1953 and was a successful agent for many years.  He later served as Agency manager in Orlando, Miami, and Richmond, Va., and as Vice President for Agencies.  Bob was awarded Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) professional designations from the American College. He was an avid supporter of Gator athletics and a member of the University of Florida F Club, and a football and basketball referee for many years.   He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.  Bob was active in many organizations over the years. He was a past president of the Orlando Jaycees, Orange County Gator Alumni, Miami and Richmond General Agents and Managers Assn, and Metro-Richmond Three Score Golf Assn. He was a past director of S. Orlando Kiwanis, The Central Florida Fair, The Central Florida Officials Assn., and The Salvation Army. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach and Plantation Bay Country Club. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at the church on Saturday, October 30 th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach.  Arrangements entrusted to Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.  Condolences are welcome to be shared with the family here at our online guestbook.
