Robert F. Connors (1920-2010)

Mr. Connors passed away on March 3 2010 after living a long productive and exciting life. Born in Yonkers New York and relocated to the Ormond Beach area with his wife and family in 1969. Mr. Connors an alumnus of Columbia University was a computer executive for National Cash Register Company located at Rockefeller Center New York City. His business career was interrupted during 1941-1945 where he served honorably in the U.S. Air Corp 15 Air Force during World War II. Upon surviving 22 battle missions in a B-24 Bomber with campaigns over Germany Africa Europe and South America; he received numerous commendations including the Purple Heart. After service to his country he returned to New York to resume his career and enjoy married life. Following a successful career with NCR Mr. Connors chose to pursue his passion for politics. He served as City Manager of Yonkers New York and was elected to the Westchester County Board of Supervisors in White Plains New York. Having vacationed in Ormond Beach with his family for several years Mr. Connors decided to semi-retire and relocate to sunny Florida in 1969 with his wife Carolyn and their five handsome sons. Mr. Connors enjoyed golfing fishing and hunting with his sons then in 1972 he continued his career as Marketing Manager for the Commercial Printing Division of the Daytona Beach News Journal Corporation until his full retirement in 1979. Mr. Connors follows his beloved wife of 54 years Carolyn Cecilia and is survived by their five sons: Gary wife Michele; Kevin wife Janet; Brian; John wife Debbie; and Craig. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Eva Colleen Jason C. Robbie Anne Mallery and Jason D. along with his two precious great-granddaughters: Skylar and Taylor. Growing up during the depression Mr. Connors craved adventure and knowledge about the great outdoors. He often said he would have loved being a Ranger at Yellowstone National Park which he visited numerous times. He will be deeply missed. Arrangements for Mr. Connors' wake and burial service is respectfully handled by the Lohman Funeral Home 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach where family and friends may pay their respects on Monday March 8 2010 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Brendans Roman Catholic Church 1000 Oceanshore Blvd. Ormond Beach on Tuesday March 9 2010 at 10:00am.
