Robert Cobb, 100, was born on March 15, 1924 in Quincy, Florida to Elouise and Benjamin Cobb. His parents moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida at a young age where he attended school. In his late teens he joined the United States Army in 1943. After being discharged he married Ethelle Mourning on November 20, 1943. In 1944 they moved to Newark, New Jersey where he worked a number of jobs, including working as a Longshoreman at Port Newark. He quickly picked up skills in pressing clothes and tailoring, and eventually took over ownership of a dry cleaning business in the late 1950's. Also during that time he and Ethelle purchased a home nearby in East Orange, New Jersey. As the business grew the children also worked at the dry cleaning business. He retired from dry cleaning in 1988 and in 1990 moved back to his home State of Florida in Palm Coast. Ethelle and Robert became active members of Palm Coast congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Ethelle, his wife of 55 years, passed away in 1999. Out of their union Larry, Linda, and Rosalind were born. Robert had a son, Robert (deceased), by a previous relationship. Robert married Doreen Duncan in 2006, enjoying 18 years of bliss. Out of their union they became parents to Candace.
On Wednesday, August 21, 2024 Robert passed away with loving family nearby. He leaves behind a loving wife, Doreen; four children, Larry, Linda, Rosalind, and Candace; a daughter in law, Gwendolyn Cobb; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 10:30AM-12PM at Lohman Funeral Home Palm Coast Chapel located at 220 Palm Coast Parkway SW, Palm Coast 32137. A memorial service will be held at 1PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1970 Old Kings Road North, Palm Coast 32137. A committal service will be held at 3PM at Volusia Memorial Park, Ormond Beach.
Robert was a beloved a steadfast provider and a beacon of support for his family who loved him dearly, and a friend to all he encountered.
