Robert Cecil of Port Orange peacefully passed away at Hospice of Port Orange on the morning of August 22.
A native of North Carolina, Robert and the love of his life, his wife Dorothy retired from North Carolina and chose Port Orange as their home, living at 495 Newton Road.

Robert, or Bob Bob as he was called by family, retired from the railroad. He served in the Army in WW II and loved to tell stories of straddling live bombs and defusing them, "sweating like a horse" in subzero temperatures. He loved to fish, do projects around the house, eat Dorothy's exceptional southern cooking and be a doting husband. He was a simple, quiet man. He loved to tell stories to his family, the sillier the better. His grandchildren adored him. Many thought he looked exactly like James Dean in his younger years, and he did. His sayings were hilarious and his impish grin was exceeded only by his sparkling baby blues.

Bob Bob is survived by his Sister, Cissie from North Carolina, a son and a daughter, whereabouts unknown, a stepson Dan (Patty), grandchildren Kaylee Lee (Carson) and Dustin Wright, and other grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife Dorothy, stepson Eddie, and two sons.

Perhaps his biggest life achievement was the raising of Dorothy's grandchild Kaylee, who came to live with Dorothy and Bob when she was very young and they raised her to be a fine young woman.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Lohman Funeral Home in Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Avenue from 6pm-7pm on September 4, 2014 and a graveside service will be conducted at 9:30am on Friday, September 5, 2014 at Daytona Memorial Park..
