Robert W. Breen 87 of Ormond Beach passed away on Monday January 4 2010. A visitation will be held on Friday January 8 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday January 9 at Saint Brendan Catholic Church beginning at 10 a.m.
Robert was born on March 23 1922 in Cleveland Ohio. He attended John Marshall High School and Fenn College. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a fighter pilot based on Iwo Jima. He earned service medals including the Soldier's Medal (for exceptional bravery) the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Purple Heart.
After the war he joined Donald McKay Smith Co. a Cleveland-based manufacturer's representative firm ending his career as president. He was married 61 years to Eileen Breen and they had four children.
The Breens retired in Ormond Beach Florida where they were devoted parishioners at Saint Brendan Catholic Church and where Robert sang in the choir. He was an avid golfer and member of the River Bend Golf Club. He was also active in Rotary International.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents William and Lottie Breen; beloved wife Eileen Breen; and brother Donald Breen. Survivors include son Terry Breen of Mundelein Illinois; daughters Patricia Reynolds of Ormond Beach; Kathleen Grady of Westlake Ohio; and Robin Fulton of Des Moines Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and nephews Don and Craig Dever.
