IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Bonner
April 26, 1942 – January 30, 2025
Uncle Bob
Robert E. Bonner, founder and owner of Daytona Dock and Seawall, died on January 30, 2025. Despite heroic effort by the ICU staff at Adventist Hospital, Robert's physical body ultimately and finally collapsed.
His daughter, Fayelyn Burbage was in attendance as he passed and family and friends quickly returned and gathered with him. Uncle Bob had the good fortune to die in the bosom of family and friends who loved him.
Notwithstanding his gregarious nature, Uncle Bob was a private man. Yet he was well-known and respected in his community and in his industry as a man of his word. Within his (large) inner circle Uncle Bob was renown for his loving care of others, most of whom appreciated his generous concern. Bob was spunky, smart and energetic. He was gentle-natured, hilarious and fun to be around.
Despite being called early from his university studies, Robert remained an avid student and reader with abiding interest in a wide range of topics, but especially history and the nature of human consciousness.
Uncle Bob had a profound streak in his character. He was very realistically self-aware. Even as he pounded nails, poured concrete—or yelled at a recalcitrant employee he was never far from contemplating the condition of life as we know it, the true meaning of existence, or the nature of the hereafter. And now Uncle Bob knows some answers.
Robert will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him, and in particular by his surviving sibling, Peggy Toner. Uncle Bob will live throughout eternity and in the hearts and in the improved characters of those who were privileged to cross his path.
Never one to rest, may he thrive and strive in the next phase of his soul's journey.
