Robert "Tim" Bloodworth of Bradenton, Florida passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by members of his family on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 79. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Karon S. Bloodworth, of Bradenton. Tim was a man of Christian faith who lived his life honoring GOD.
Born in Coral Gables, FL, and adopted and raised in New Smyrna Beach, FL, by Robert F. and Margaret L. (Dorsey) Bloodworth, their only child, whom they loved wholeheartedly. He married his high school sweetheart, Karon (Smith) in the New Smyrna Beach area, where they raised their children, and also hosted international exchange students: Silvia Correa (Spain), Yoshimi Ouchi (Japan), Matthias Möhle (Germany), who became part of their family, before moving to Bradenton.
He is survived by two children, Robert T. Bloodworth, Jr. and wife, Beatriz (Tobon) of Boston, MA; Kathy S. (Bloodworth) Gerry and husband, Kenneth A. Gerry of Bradenton, FL; and four grandsons, Kristopher Gerry of Dallas, TX, Mark Bloodworth of Boston, MA, Kevin Gerry of Bradenton, FL, Samuel Bloodworth of Boston, MA; and Courtenay H. Johnson, a dear family friend, who lived with Karon and Tim, and provided so much love & support during his later years. He also loved his Bloodworth Family in the Pineview area of Middle Georgia.
Near the end of his life, he connected with his biological family members, and is survived by one sister, Donna (Pagano) Clarke of Millen, GA, and two brothers, Michael Pagano of Keystone Heights, FL, and Marc Pagano of Titusville, FL, from the maternal family. On the paternal side, he is survived by one uncle, Robert "Bobby" Carey ("Longbow") of Cleveland, Ohio.
Tim loved his hometown of New Smyrna Beach (NSB), where his father served as the captain of the Fire Department. As a teen, Tim won several model car contests, and later built model rockets with his best friend, Russ Myers. Tim and Karon had many wonderful adventures with the entire Myers Family.
Tim and Karon loved traveling the world, but one of their favorite places was visiting the NSB Dairy Queen. He had many other interests throughout his life, including car racing; studying and collecting WWII memorabilia; and collecting and modifying die-cast Hot Wheels and AFX slot cars; only to name a few of his many hobbies.
His professional career included working for North American Rockwell/NASA, on the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo projects. Later, he worked in sales throughout the State of Florida, before retiring to his favorite roles as "Grandpa" and "Uncle Tim."
A private graveside funeral service was held at Daytona Memorial Park, and was officiated by his son, Pastor Robert T. Bloodworth, Jr., on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. He is interred at Daytona Memorial Park.
