Obituary

Robert "Bob" Barker
1947 ~ 2019

Bob was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut; and lived in Fairfield.  He was a navy corpsman serving with the marines in Vietnam. He had various occupations throughout his life: policeman, donut maker, realtor, business owner, veteran's outreach officer among them.  He gave his time freely, mentoring school children, bringing the Holy Eucharist to the sick; and assisting with projects through veterans' organizations, and the Knights of Columbus.  Most importantly he was a child of God, sitting at the Teacher's feet daily in prayer.

Bob was predeceased by his brother, Walter, and his sister Joan.  He is survived by his wife, Marta, his sons Robert and Michael, his daughter Joan and her husband Jean-Claude, and his daughter Margaret and her husband Kevin; and 3 grandchildren: Kevin, Jordan, and Shepherd. Family meant so much to him, and he was the loving uncle to several nieces and nephews.

There will be a mass of Christian burial on May 7 at 8:30 am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange.

In lieu of  flowers, donations may be made to:

The Office of Radio and Television of the Archdiocese of Hartford
15 Peach Orchard Rd
Prospect CT 06712-1052

Bob's avocation was astronomy, always looking to the heavens.  Now he sees clearly the face of God.
