Robert M. Ball, a.k.a. "El Jefe", was welcomed into a greater Kingdom on Saturday, June 25th, 2011.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the Ormond Beach Chapel of Lohman Funeral Homes, 733 W. Granada Blvd. Born in Abington, PA on Jan. 4th, 1933, where he lived in several towns throughout Pennsylvainia until 1984.

Bob, as he was known by most, was a unique, well-traveled and devoted family man. He was a proud member of the U.S. Marines and received a National Defense Service Medal. He was Honorably Discharged as a Corporal 1st Class in 1955. Bob attended Penn State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Surveying and Engineering, achieving the highest grade point average in his class. Bob surveyed in Northern California for Aero Mapping Services and later for A. W. Martin & Assoc. before partnering with his brother Frank, at F.X. Ball Assoc.

After moving to Florida in 1984, He worked at Southern Resource Mapping Inc., where he traveled to numerous countries throughout the Caribbean. Robert was recognized in two of the "WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA" books for his outstanding achievements throughout his career, most notably acquiring Survey licenses in the States of Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia and Florida. His one love was Puerto Rico where he spent much time working and visiting friends and garnered the nick name "El Jefe". Robert continued working as a hobby up until 2011. He started his own Company named AMERI-CARIBE Mapping Inc., which kept him active in the Caribbean.

Robert, who was known for many accomplishments during his life, is most remembered by his family as an Outstanding Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend. He will always be remembered for his active participation in his children's lives. He was Head Football Coach of the Lower Perkiomen Longhorns Pop Warner Football League, where he pioneered the "every kid gets to play" philosophy.

Our father was undeniably the most kind, compassionate, and understanding man ever known and we are honored to be his children. Anyone who knew him, liked him. He was always willing to help anyone in need, without hesitation. Dad, you will be missed more than words can express. There is no other that could ever fill your shoes in our lives or in our hearts. As your children, we are PROUD to carry on what you have taught us and will keep your memory alive.

A man well respected and highly admired, Robert lived by his personal quote: "Life is Short kid, Live each day and be happy, and don't hurt anyone". He did exactly that, he lived and loved big, he treated everyone as a friend and never said an unkind word about anyone. We know you are in a better place and you will continue to guide us from above. You're role as Father will never end. Rest well El Jefe, until we can all meet again.

Robert is survived by his children: Sons: John R. Ball, Gilbertsville, PA. Robert M. Ball JR., Yokota, Japan, Ron Ball, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Daughters: Mary D. Ball-Mulero, Ormond Beach, FL, Gidget L. Zangrilli, Pottstown, PA; Brother: Francis X. Ball, Naples, FL; Sister: Jenny Ball, Collegeville, PA; Grandchildren: Eric and Ashleigh Mulero, Ormond Beach, FL., Zoe Ball, Fort Lauderdale, FL., Donovan Ball, Yokota, Japan, Barbara (Ball) Widmann, Angela (Ball) Andrews, John Ball JR, Jennifer & Michael Zangrilli (Pennsylvania); and four Great-Grandchildren. Robert is predeceased by his parents John D. Ball & Genevieve Ball, also a brother John D. Ball, of Pennsylvania. Condolences may be shared with the family through this online guestbook.
