Obituary

Rita Florence Mauboussin was born in Manhattan on April 30, 1924.  Her spirit always remained attached to this exciting city.  Her senior year, brought a family move to a farm in Huntington, Long Island - which was a lifestyle switch.  WWII broke out, Rita assisted the war effort, and began producing aircraft components at Grumman Aerospace.  Her she found her "precisionBuild" talent - leading her eventually to : make watch faces at Bulova; build electronic circuit boards; create pieces of 3-D art; and crochet home furnishings.
After the war, Rita married Rene Mauboussin- a French American who was a Purple Heart veteran.  Residing in Babylon, they enjoyed a good life of family, community service, hard work, travel, and the arts. As one of the town's awarded cooks, Rita began crocheting laptop afghans for veterans.  Over the years these conservatively numbered in the hundreds.
Greatly missed already, are her family and friends.  Rita leaves: her husband of 71 years- Rene; an only child- Diana Jennings; 2 grandsons- Travis and Roarke; an outstanding niece- Pat Travers; and friends from NY and Palm Coast.
The inherent energy for Rita to love was her most outstanding characteristic.  Individuals could feel her power to nurture, comfort, adore and support.  This lady was very authentic, saying exactly what was on her mind through honest words.
Laughing often with an apron on, and a glue gun or paint brush in hand, Rita lived her last 30 years in Florida- 3 blocks from the ocean.  Her home was the parade site of decorations during Christmas holidays, a refuge for those who might be lonely, a bakery of sweet treats, and a haven of good times.
Please join us in remembering her true spirit on Tuesday November 6, 2018.  Rita's mourning mass will be held at 11:00 am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Palm Coast, FL.  You are cordially invited to a reception immediately following the Mass, address will be disclosed at the Church.
