Rita Elizabeth Fosse, 86, of Ormond Beach, passed way peacefully, after a lengthy, courageous, battle with Alzheimer's disease on July 19, 2016 at Bishop's Glen Care Center, Holly Hill, FL. She was born Rita Elizabeth Becker on May 1, 1930 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to parents, Charles and Frances Becker. She attended local St. Cloud schools and graduating from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1948 where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the American Revolution Award for dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism. She was also the recipient of many awards and citations over her life time, including being crowned Central Minnesota "Queen of Snows" an annual St. Paul Minnesota winter carnival pageant in 1948, and she won out over fourteen other candidates. Rita's first marriage in 1950 to Marvin Athman ended four short years later in an automobile accident. She later married Alfred Fosse on February 21, 1959 at "The Little Brown Church in the Vale" in Nashua, Iowa.
After three years residing in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, they moved to Naperville, Illinois where they called home for the next 32 years. While residing in Naperville, Rita was a Sunday school superintendant, and a church council member at Our Savior Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Cress Creek Country Club where she was an officer with the Ladies Golf Auxiliary. She was an exceptional, gifted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She cared for and maintained a large flower and vegetable garden as well as being as avid golfer.
Rita and Alfred relocated and called Ormond Beach home in 1995. They were one of the first ten families to move into the Ormond Heritage condominium. She was a past member of the Southern Seniors Golf Assoc., the Oceanside Country Club and the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church.
She is survive by her husband of 57 years, Alfred Fosse, her daughter, Susan Fosse, of Bolingbrook, Illinois, her four sons, Dr. Brian Fosse and his wife Gwen of N. Muskegon, Michigan, Gary Fosse and his wife Susan of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Jeffrey Fosse and his wife Lee Ann of Stillwater, Minnesota, and Eric Fosse of Spokane, Washington, by her sister, Carol Wood of Sartell, Minnesota, eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Rita's life will be celebrated with a Memorial service on Saturday, July 30th at 11:00 am at Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church, 105 Amsden Road Ormond Beach with the Reverend Dr. R. Michael Foley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Rita's memory to the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
