Rita Marie Daniels "Mama Rita"

Rita Marie Daniels, 95, lovingly known as "Mama Rita", of Port Orange, Florida, passed away quietly in her sleep on Monday April 17, 2023.  She was born on Thursday January 5, 1928 in Syracuse, New York to the late Frank and Leana (Bulfrey) DeJohn.  Rita moved to the Daytona Beach, Florida area with her Husband, Jack Daniels in 1967 and planted their roots in South Daytona, Florida.  She was employed at General Electric from 1958 until 1966 in New York.  In 1974, after moving to the Daytona Beach, Florida area Rita began her career in the Purchasing Department at The Daytona Beach News Journal until 1996 when she retired after 23 years of dedicated service.
Rita always made sure Visitors, Family, and Friends were welcome and loved.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time doting on her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.  Rita also loved to Gamble and playing cards.
Survivors include her Three Sons, John Joseph Donigan, Jr. and his wife, Susan,  Michael Stephen Daniels and Richard James Daniels and his wife, Shari;  Six Grandchildren, Joni Averett, Lisa Alexander, Garrett Donigan, Jack Daniels, Haley Daniels and Ryan Daniels;  and Four Great-Grandchildren, Gabe, Olivia, Collin, Layne.
She was preceded in death by her Husbands, John Joseph Donigan, Sr. in 1965 and Jack Daniels in 1987.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 pm with Visitation being held from 3:30 pm until the Service begins at 4:00pm all on Saturday April 29, 2023 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114.
