With the peaceful passing of Mrs. Rita Adair on November 10 2009 Port Orange has lost a beloved member of their community. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday November 17 2009 at 11:00 am at Epiphany Catholic Church 201 Lafayette Street Port Orange. The family will be receiving friends at the Cardwell funeral Home 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave. Port Orange 767-0120 on Monday November 16 2009 from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm. Mrs. Adair was born in Moncton N.B. Canada. She worked as an executive secretary with Atlantic Blue Cross. Also she became an active member of the theatre group Stage Door 56. Her career led her to Ottawa Ontario with the Canadian Diplomatic Services. This followed with a posting with the Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C. where she met her now deceased husband Jim Adair. Rita and Jim chose Port Orange in particular the Briarwood community to live out their retirement years. Rita immersed herself happily in her new environment. She worked as an executive secretary with the Chamber of Commerce. She was also a member of the coalition of Home Owner's in Port Orange and the President of the Briarwood home owner's association. A devout Catholic Rita was very active in her church. She attended the Epiphany Catholic Church in Port Orange. Rita will be deeply missed by her dear friends Jaimye (Carl) Strickland Gigi Boileau Allan Fish Kathy Henebery and her cousin Deborah (Carl) Firth.
