Richard R. Wade 66 of Ormond Beach passed peacefully and joined his black lab and loving companion on July 29 2011 surrounded by his loving family. A visitation will be held on Tuesday August 2 2011 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. from 5pm-7pm. The "Celebration of Life" will be held on Wednesday August 3 20ll at 10am in the Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Daytona Memorial Park Cemetery with full Military Honors.Richard was the son of Dale and Betty Wade born May 17 1945 in Morehead City North Carolina. He lived in Davenport Iowa during his childhood and movedto Daytona Beach in 1959. He graduated from Seabreeze Senior High School in 1963.
Following High School he worked as a lifeguard for the Volusia County Beach Patrol and attended Daytona Beach Community College. In 1965 while attending college he was drafted into the United States Army. He served as a combat Infantryman in Vietnam with the First Infantry Division in 1966 and1967. He was Honorably Discharged in 1967. In 1971 he entered Newberry College in South Carolina where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. While in school he met his wife Wicki of 37 years. After both graduated Richard and Wicki were married in the college chapel on February 10 1974 and returned to Daytona Beach. On July 18 1982 their son Glenn Bryant Wade was born. Richard retired from the State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice after 30 years and then taught briefly at Seabreeze High School before fully retiring in 2004. He was a Disabled Veteran and suffered the past 5 years with service connected disabilities one of which was T-Cell Lymphoma exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church Faith Lutheran Church Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach Lifesaving Corps Delta Beta Pi Kappa Alpha Order Society of the First Infantry Division Disabled Military Veterans Rescued Hearts Animal Shelter Inc. and loved the Florida Gators. Richard is survived by his beloved wife Wicki son Glenn and fiance Sarah Seibel Sister Amy (John) Wade-Carotenuto many extended family members and close friends.
