Dr . Richard J . Stock, Jr. "Dick," passed away in his Da ytona Beach home surrounded by his family on Memorial Day, Ma y 2 7, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Dick, the son of the late Dr. Richard J. Stock, Sr. and Elizabeth Taughinbaugh, was born December 1, 1939, in Hanover, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by sisters Elizabeth and Theresa Stock and is survived by sisters Sara Lundgre n "Sally" (Dr. Sandy Lundgren) and Susan Stock.

Dick received his BA from Johns Hop ki ns University in 1961 and his MD from Georgetown School of Medicine in 1965. H e completed his first residency in OB/GYN in 1969 and then received his MPH in Human Genetics from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health in 1976. In 1978 he completed his second residency in Anatomic Pathology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.

In October 1964 Dick married the love of his life Dr. Margaret Elizabeth O'Donnell "Maggie" whom he met while in medical school. Ma g gie and Dick were blissfully married for almost 55 years. He was blessed with six daughters and eighteen grandchildren, of whom he was very proud.

Maggie tirelessly and selflessly devoted herself to caring for her beloved husband at home, rarely leaving his side and always ensuring he was as com fortable and happy. Over the last year, the professional caretakers, physicians, clergy and Hospice team members frequently commented that they had never seen a better cared for bedridden patient in all their experience and that the love surrounding him was truly inspirational.

Dick served his church, community and country throughout his life. He was an altar bo y, an Eagle Scout, a physician, a lifelong community volunteer and a military officer. In May 2003 he retired after 30 years of disting ui shed military service as a Captain in the USN. During his military service he received many let t ers of commendation for his outstanding performan ce of duty. In addition to having a long and honored military medical career, Dick also pursued his love of teaching by serving as an Associate Professor of OB / G YN Pathology at both Eastern Virg inia Medical School and University of Pittsburgh and authored numerous publications in scientific journals.

He was an artist, an exceptional dancer, a lover of technology, and a history buff. He spent countless hours tending to his roses and listening to opera. He was fascinated by the law and had an entrepreneuri al spirit that resulted in several successful businesses an d influenced his children to follow in his footsteps. He was a true sportsman and conservatio nist who loved spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, golfing and playing tennis with his girls. He enjoyed being the Captain of his own v essel, the "Why Not."

He was a gentleman and a fierce champion of women, whom he held in the highest regard and treated with utmost respect , instilling in his daughters the confidence that they could do anything they dreamed.

He was a family man. He believed so strongly in family that he suffe red through the planning of annual reunions, where extended family could reconnect in a beautiful location. But, the most important part of his family and his life was his Maggie. He was happiest when traveling the world with her.

His kindness, infectious laugh, se n se of humor and bright smile will be forever cherished and m issed by his wife, Maggie; his children, Dr. Katherine Misch "Katie" (Dr. Craig Misch), Elizabeth DerManuelian "Betsey" (Stephen DerManuelian), Mary Jungman "Mootsie" (Frank Jungman), Susan Stava, JD "Susie" (Jeff Stava), Dr. Amy McMahan (J oel M cMahan, JD), a nd Dr. Judith McDonnell "Judy" (D r. Sean McDonnell); and his grandchildren, Dr. Ma gg ie Misch-Haring (Dr. Harry Haring), Angela Misch, JD, Rachel Misch, Michael DerManuelian, Matthew DerManuelian, Vaughn Jungman, Jesse Jungman, Trevor Jungman, Frank Jungman, Will Stava, Luke Stava, Emma McMahan, Mary McMahan, Aidan McMahan, Claire McDonnell, Colin McDonnell, Thomas McDonnell and Patrick McDonnell.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange, Florida on Monday J une 3, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Daytona Memorial Park, in Daytona Beach, Florida.
