Richard Alvin Schreckengost passed into the loving arms of the Lord on July 12 2013 in Port Orange Florida. He was born in New Redford Michigan on December 1 1925 to Leroy and Eleanor (Johnson) Schreckengost and loving foster son of the late Ernest Tichenor Buffalo New York. Upon graduation from Fosdick Masten High School in 1943 Richard joined the Air Force to proudly serve his country in during World War II. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice he aspired to a musical career singing professionally in Buffalo N.Y and nearby Canada under the name "Dick Sulton." Putting family above a professional career he worked for Westinghouse Electric in Cheektowaga for 40 years. He retired in 1987 to enjoy his love for fishing in Lake Erie and Lake Chautauqua. He continued to express himself through singing with the Buffalo chapter of the Barbershop singing society; he was a member there for 50 years. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2679 and alumni association of Fosdick Masten High School class of 1943. In 1979 Richard met the love of his life his devoted wife Norain and spent the next 34 years enjoying life. Left to treasure his memory are his wife Norain Perrine Schreckengost; sons Richard E. (Carol) Schreckengost of New York Daniel (Kathy) Schreckengost of Georgia Jeffery Schreckengost of South Carolina; step sons Robert (Cheryl) Fetzer of New York Joseph (Sue) Fetzer of New York and step-daughter Sandra (Melvin) Preusch of New York. He also leaves a host of grandchildren great-grandchildren nieces nephews and especially his nephew Doug Williams of Palmyra New York. Richard was preceded in death by his brother Leroy (Margre) Schreckengost; sisters Betty (Don) Tougher Donna (Dave) Williams and Phyllis (Mike). A memorial service will be held at a later date.
