SAMPLE RICHARD J. "DICK" Capt. US Navy (ret.)
Richard "Dick" Sample 78 of John Anderson Drive Ormond Beach Fl. passed away on March 8th 2007 at his home with family. Dick Sample was born in Chicago Illinois on November 6th 1928. Captain Sample was a Navy Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He served as a Naval Aviator Squadron Commander and Director of Planning Programming and Budgeting for all of Naval Aviation. After leaving the Navy in 1974 he founded Sample International Inc. an aviation claims adjusting firm. Upon his second retirement he continued in aviation research and development until his death. He was an avid Aviation safety enthusiast. His passions included flying his Piper Arrow a love of dogs boating and 18 years of motorcycle riding. His enthusiasm for aviation was exceeded only by his love for his family. He is survived by his lovely wife Patricia A.C. Sample daughter Wendy Ann Halbert of Sarasota son Richard "Chip" Sample of Port Orange and two sisters; Mabel Hesslegrave of South Carolina and Elsie Diener of Clearwater Fl. He is also survived by Louise and Ed Moran of Granite Bay Ca. Paul S. Jensen of Incline Village Nevada and eight grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday March 17th 2pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach with reception immediately following.
