Rich as he was known to all was born on August 18 1941 in Brooklyn NY and spent his childhood in Brooklyn Hankins and Calicoon NY. Rich served his country proudly in the USMC from 1958-1961 and was honorably discharged after suffering a medical disability. Rich moved with his family from Honesdale PA to Ormond Beach FL in 1978. Rich had a wonderful sense of humor and was a friend to everyone. He enjoyed spending time with his children grandchildren and his wife companion and soulmate Peggy. Rich and Peggy loved to travel and together they saw 40 U.S. states and most of the National Parks. Those who knew him know that his favorite things in life were his family his friends the Marine Corp and the "Duke" John Wayne. Rich loved to tinker and fix things around the house and spend a lot of time in his garage and work shop. He also loved cars and was a mechanic in his early adulthood. However the happiest times in "Poppy's" life were when he was spending time with his two precious grandchildren Crawford and Kendall Olsen his pride and joy. Rich is survived by his wife of 45 years Peggy Olsen; his sister Leona Naughton of Calicoon NY; his three sons: Richard Olsen of Orlando FL Chad Olsen of Orange City FL and Gregory Olsen and his wife Tara of Ormond Beach FL and his two grandchildren Crawford and Kendall Olsen. Rich's parents Albert & Betty Olsen and his younger brother Edwin Olsen preceded him in death. Rich touched the lives of all those around him and he will be missed dearly. However we know he is in heaven watching over us with his parents and kid brother and for that we are thankful. Rich was a devoted animal lover so the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Halifax Humane Society 2364 W. LPGA Blvd. Daytona Beach FL 32124 in Rich's memory.
