Obituary

Richard J. Mauro joined his wife, Elsie, on July 6, 2015. Richie was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on May 31, 1934 and retired as a vice president of Chemical Bank. Richard loved life, his family, and having parties. Richie and Elsie were especially known for their love of music and they were fabulous dancers. He will especially be remembered for his yearly Christmas parties with Santa, Mrs. Claus, DJ, and lots of good food. Christmas was his favorite time of year. Richie loved hosting dinner parties for friends and family, bowling, traveling and just having a good time.

Richard is survived by his brother, Hennie Mauro; his sister whom he raised, Barbara D'Albenzio, and brother-in-law, Thomas D'Albejnzio; his loving daughter, Lisa Veit, and her husband, Donald F. Veit, who cared for him for the last eight years; and his daughter, JoAnn Fernandez, Donna Parmley, and son, Raymond and his wife Antoinette. Richard was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Richard lived a long, happy life and will be missed more than words can say. He was cared for by Halifax Hospice of Volusia Flagler and I (Lisa) cannot say enough good things about them, they are a group of the most caring staff I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I am asking for donations to them in lieu of flowers.
