Richard Eldwin Jett, 81, of Palm Coast, Florida passed away on Wednesday September 4, 2019, with his wife by his side. He was born October 23, 1937, in Washington, DC, to "Jack" LaFonzo and Pauline Snelling Jett. He married Joyce on July 16, 1983; they were married 36 years.
Richard is lovingly remembered by his daughters Wanda "Ginger" (Bill) Woycik, Pauline (Steve) Boyer and, Rita "Lynn" (Gunars) Lapins; Denette (Winthrop) Chew; his son Robert "Rob" (Arabhi) Jenkins; his grandchildren, Becky, Ben, Michael, Crystal, Stephen Jr, Kirbie, Sammie, Kristi, Terrence, Jeremy, Arianna, Aidan; great grandchildren, Willie, Ginny Kay, Bayleigh, Kaleb, Kamden, Rylie, Emorie; his brothers, Ronald "Pete", William, George, Robert, Johnny, and Charlie Jett; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and other family and friends.
Richard is predeceased by his parents; one daughter, Cheryl; brothers Jack Jr., Preston, James; and sister Patricia.
Richard graduated from Bladensburg Senior High School in Maryland. He then went on to a lifelong career as a truck driver primarily for Giant Food for 37 years. He was an active participant in truck driving rodeos promoting driver safety throughout the DC metro area.
He enjoyed his puppies, gardening, taking care of animals, NASCAR, and always lending a helping hand to his neighbors, friends and family.
The visitation will be held at Lohman Funeral Home 220 Palm Coast Parkway SW Palm Coast, Florida 32137 at 10 am. The funeral service will follow at 11 am.
The burial service will be at 12:30 pm at the Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard's name can be made to the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, 150 Memorial Medical Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida 32164.
