Obituary

Mr. Richard "Rick" Hutchinson, 59, of Port Orange, Florida went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 15, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. He died with his wife, family and friends at his bedside.

Rick was born at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida. He grew up in New Smyrna Beach and South Daytona. After graduation from high school, he entered the United States Marine Corps. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. He first entered the workforce in banking, and then, moved into the car business as a finance/business manager. He worked for several dealerships: Tallahassee Ford, Gary Yeoman's Ford, Daytona Nissan, and finally retiring from Deland Reliable Used Cars and Trucks. He loved his work in finance and made lifelong friendships with his business partners.

He loved freshwater fishing, Nascar, the Florida State Seminoles, the Green Bay Packers, coaching little league baseball, the Thunderbird airshows, tennis, golf, walking, music, singing, whistling, dancing, bodysurfing at the beach, gardening, and the nature of weather. He was an outdoor enthusiast with a love for flowers, plants, and birds.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Family was especially important to him. Relationships meant everything and making memories was key. He was a true Christian who loved the Lord. He lived with an attitude of gratitude. He had a grand sense of humor, an infectious smile, and a genuine spirit of warmth, kindness, and enthusiasm. He had a zest for life. He truly saw each day as a gift. He was a great motivator and an inspiration to all who knew him, as he was an eternal optimist.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Hutchinson; three sons, Michael Hutchinson, Port Orange, FL, Bryan Hutchinson, Port Orange, FL, and Jeremy Hutchinson, Daytona Beach, FL; one daughter, Sarah Beth Miller, Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Jacob, Wyatt, Cayson, , Jackson Hutchinson, and Noah. He is also survived by two siblings, sister Pat Bishop, New Smyrna Beach, FL and brother, Larry Hutchinson, Edgewater, FL.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Port Orange on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 4:00 PM. The Reverend Rick Burhans will be officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the church social hall.
The family will received friends on Thursday, August 21 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Lohman Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Ave, Port Orange.
