HARDY, Richard A.
Richard A. Hardy, 85, of Port Orange passed away on June 9, 2017 at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach following a stroke. He was born on September 15, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Henry M. Hardy and Mary Nell Leake. He attended Southwest DeKalb High School in Decatur, Georgia and served in the US Army, as well as being a Master Mason.
Richard began his career as an automobile mechanic and had the unique experience of working on the 48 Tucker. He retired after 30 years service with Delta Air Lines as a supervisor in Quality Control and moved from Atlanta to Port Orange residing here for 28 years.
Richard was a charter member of the former Indigo Lakes Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, FL and he was currently a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Port Orange, FL.
He enjoyed country music, genealogy, motorcycle touring and spending time with his family.
Richard was married for 13 years to Joyce O'Barr, the mother of his three children, Roxanna (Rocky), Richard Jr. (Rick) and Sandra (Sandi).
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elaine Eddinger Hardy; son, Rick; and special needs daughter, Sandi. He was preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Roxanna Hardy Rashada in 2013.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday June 24, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1675 Taylor Road, Port Orange, FL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to New Hope Baptist Church, 1675 Taylor Road, Port Orange, FL.
