After a long battle with cancer, Richard (Rick) Ferritto of Ormond Beach, Florida, peacefully went to be with our Lord on January 26, 2022. Rick was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on October 21, 1956, to Sully and Janice Ferritto and moved to Ormond Beach at an early age.

A 1974 graduate of Seabreeze High School, Rick spent his life giving back to the Ormond Beach community. After studying business at Florida State University, Rick began his career as Director of Purchasing for Ron Rice at Hawaiian Tropic, where he met his beloved wife Shari Rosevear.

On February 22, 1986, Rick and Shari were married at St. James Episcopal Church.  A year later, they welcomed their first child (Matthew) and, shortly after, welcomed two more children (Christopher and Catherine). Rick and Shari opened their business (Chris-Matic) in 1992, selling packaging and chemicals to the beauty and cosmetics industry. During this time, Rick was elected to the Society of the Cosmetic Chemists. In 2012, Rick founded Petology, a pet grooming line that allowed him to exhibit his passion for the wellness of dogs.

Throughout his life, Rick was an avid golfer, hunter, and outdoor enthusiast.  He spent the summers of 1973 through 1977 as a Volusia County Lifeguard and continued to be part of the reserve lifeguard program. Rick spearheaded the implementation of the first-ever Public-Private Sponsorship for the Volusia County lifeguards and left his Hawaiian Tropic mark on lifeguard stands that expanded to include all beach patrols in the country through the United States Lifesaving Association; by giving each lifeguard a Hawaiian Tropic umbrella, swimsuit, and sunscreen.

Rick was an active member of Oceanside Country Club, where he practiced his love for golf, St. James Episcopal Church, The Payne Stewart Foundation, The College Golf Fellowship, The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and the Rotary Club of Ormond Beach.  He also assisted the Jaycees, along with his father (Sully) and late Mother (Janice), in moving Embry-Riddle University from Miami to Daytona Beach in 1965.  Rick was a member of the New Dawn Group, Friends of Bill W.

Passionate about youth sports programs, Rick served as one of the founding directors for the YMCA of Ormond Beach and was involved in the growth of the Ormond Beach Youth Baseball and Softball Association. He organized the first Ormond Beach Golden Spikes Baseball team trip to Cooperstown, NY.  With the help of other community members, Rick co-founded the Pop Warner Football and Cheerleading program for our community in 2000 and lovingly supported all his children's athletic teams.  In recognition of Rick's outstanding service and dedication to Ormond Beach, The Ferritto Family Limitless Playground was dedicated to Rick on August 28, 2021, along with a key to the city.

Rick was a devoted son, husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Shari; his Father; Sully Ferritto; three children, Matthew (Brianna), Christopher (Alexa), and Catherine (Robert); four grandchildren, Cooper, Harper, Emersyn, and Haven, who admiringly refer to him as "Grampy."; one Sister Catherine (Charles) Mayhugh of Ft Myers, and thirteen nieces and nephews. His grandchildren and dogs were the absolute light of his life.  He fought for many years to spend as much time with them as God would allow. He was predeceased by his mother, Janice Ferritto.

A memorial service will be conducted 4:00 pm Friday, February 11, 2022 at St. James Episcopal Church (38 S. Halifax Drive Ormond Beach). A reception will immediately follow at Oceanside Country Club (75 N. Halifax Drive Ormond Beach).
