Richard Herbert Fagan, 83, of Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Richard was born on April 16, 1942, in Teaneck, New Jersey. He later moved to the Daytona Beach area, where he graduated from Father Lopez High School and built the foundation for a life defined by hard work, friendship, and a love of family.
He began his career as a plumber with Carey & Harvley and later with Hills Quality Plumbing, learning the trade through dedication and determination. Motivated to build something of his own, Richard studied for and successfully passed the General Contractor’s exam. During the 1980s, he built homes throughout the Daytona Beach area, contributing to the growth of the community he called home. Later in life, he brought his steady work ethic and personable nature to the hospitality industry, finishing his career in hotel management with Consolidated Inns of Daytona Beach.
Richard embraced life’s simple joys. He was an avid golfer who loved traveling the country to play memorable courses and spending weekends competing with his golf buddies. He was a passionate sports fan, especially devoted to the Florida Gators, and it was not uncommon to hear him enthusiastically offering coaching advice from the living room while watching a game.
Music was another of Richard’s gifts. He enjoyed singing and playing the ukulele, often bringing smiles to those around him with his easygoing spirit and love of entertaining family and friends.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Mary K. Fagan; his daughters, Tracey Parlow and Christine Fagan; his stepchildren, Virginia Lemoyne, Susan Miller, Tom Barrett, Mike Fagan, and James Christopher Fagan; his sisters, Patti Moten and Terry Stanton; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Fagan, his brother, Georgie, and his former spouse, Lynne Fagan.
Richard will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his humor, his love of music and golf, and the many friendships he formed throughout his life.
Private services will be held at a later date.
