Obituary

Richard "Dick" Edward Stack of Port Orange, FL, formerly of North Hills, Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2015, to be with his LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, after several years of pulmonary illness, and recently a fractured neck. Dick, age 80, was the beloved husband for 38 years of Judith (Walliser) Stack. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew, Jr. and Harry. Also, stepdaughter Mary Beth Finley and Daughter In-Law Nancy Stack (Richard Jr.).

In addition to his wife, Judith, he is survived by his sister, Florence E. Ackerman - Pittsburgh, PA and his loving children: Cathy Yankello and husband Rick; Barbara Oberlander and husband Richard, Debra Kedzuf and husband Joseph, Richard Stack, Jr. and wife Gretchen and Brenda Stack. As well as, stepchildren: Robert Finley and wife Gena, Mark Randolph, Susan Dow and husband Jay, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Growing up in Pittsburgh, Dick played baseball as first baseman for West View High School and Melwood, and eventually signed a Minor League Contract in 1952, to play professionally with the Coastal Plain League, and later with the Alabama-Florida League. That love of baseball remained with him in his "senior years" as he played Senior Softball with the Northern Allegheny League of Pittsburgh. Dick always had a great love of sports, and also family. Besides softball, he enjoyed playing tennis and taking his family on many camping, hunting and skiing adventures, including trips to New York, Vermont, Colorado, Austria and Switzerland.

Another one of Dick's great pleasures was piloting corporate planes and flying his own Cessna 310. As owner of S & S Inc. (a construction/resurfacing business) he built & refinished bowling lanes and gymnasiums. He also bowled occasionally and in 1981 he won the Classic Petersen Bowling Championship.

S & S Trophy, Inc. was another business endeavor in which he, and wife Judie, manufactured awards and advertising specialties. After many years in business, they retired and embarked on a journey that he ultimately felt was his greatest achievement, serving as a missionary in Central America. They worked with CHRIST FOR THE CITY, INTERNATIONAL for 15 years, teaching, ministering and giving over 32,000 bibles throughout the remote, mountainous areas, of those countries. They were members of North Hills Christian Church in Pittsburgh, and later in Florida, members of Faith Church, Port Orange.
"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who carry glad tidings, who proclaim salvation, and who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" Isaiah 52:7
