Richard "Dick" J. Schena age 71 passed away in his home on Tuesday January 20 2009 following a courageous battle with kidney and heart disease.

A memorial service in his honor will be held Saturday January 24 2009; 11 AM at the Daytona Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Home 1423 Bellevue Ave. Daytona Beach. The family will receive guest from 10:00 AM. Jewett City CT will also host a memorial service at a later date.

Ricahrd was born July 17 1937 in Jewett City Connecticut to the late Joseph and Helen (Marinello) Schena. He attended Riverside Grade School graduated from Putnam Technical High School and served in the United States Air Force for six years. He was an active member of the Army National Guard for twenty years where he attained the rank of First Sergeant. Richard dedicated his talent as an Independent General Contractor and Mason for the State of Connecticut Department of Corrections before retiring to Daytona Beach Florida.

He was a proud member of The Pelican Bay Country Club in Daytona Beach FL and enjoyed playing golf for many years.

Dick leaves his two sons and their wives Jeffrey and Sandra Schena and Mark and Brenda Schena a daughter and her husband; Lisa and Charles Chmura; six grandchildren: Brett Avery Amanda Alyson and Zachary; his second wife of 29 years Joan Wilson Schena his children by marriage; Audra Wilson Mathew and his wife Elizabeth Wilson 2 grandchildren by marriage Sandra and Matthew of New Jersey 2 brothers: Joseph Schena of Jewett City CT and Anthony Schena of Canterbury CT 4 sisters: Helene Stearns Elizabeth Bonchuk and Christina Millovitch of Griswold CT; and Angela Daly of Mystic CT. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard parents and a sister Marie Chiradio preceded him in death.
