A Celebration of Life for Richard L. (Dick) Hunter Sr. 82 of Pelican Bay Daytona Beach will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Chapel with Rev. Robert Moorehead officiating. Mr. Hunter died Sunday morning May 13 2007 at Florida Memorial Hospital Ormond. Mr. Hunter graduated from the University of Detroit with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1951. He worked at General Electric for 33 years in Pittsfield MA and Daytona Beach FL where he was a Project Manager. He lived in Florida for past 27 years. He was an avid golfer and long time member of Pelican Bay Country Club and of Berkshire Hills Country Club in Pittsfield MA and had 8 holes in one. He was a Navy veteran who served in WWII as airplane gunner aboard an aircraft carrier. He married the love of his life Gladys Chapman from Boston Mass. more than 60 years ago. He was the oldest of six children born to Raymond L and Esther G. Hunter of Detroit MI. He was the oldest of six children; sister Barbara (deceased) brother Jack (deceased) and three surviving brothers Chuck of Clawson MI Ross of Mt. Clemens MI and Ray of Frederick MD. Also surviving were two children Janice Dubois of Daytona Beach and Torrington CT with husband Paul and Richard Jr of Austin TX and wife Carolyn. The Hunters also have 3 grandchildren (Michael Casey Daniel Hunter and Sarah Hunter) and 2 great grandchildren (Keegan and McKeena Casey).
