Richard (Rich) J. DeLong suddenly passed away Aug. 7 2009 at the age of 68.
Born July 1 1941 and a native of Landsdale PA. Rich moved to the Port Orange area
20 years ago. After moving to Florida Rich loved boating fishing and playing darts
with friends. Always a loving & caring man with a great sense of humor. Rich was
an employee of Winn Dixie for the past 20 years and made many friends during his
employment there. You could almost always find him at The Breakers in New Smyrna
Beach watching the ocean and enjoying the company of all his friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his long time companion Ellen Amirault of Port Orange
his children Christine (DeLong) Chabala of Landsdale PA Richard DeLong of North Wales PA
Cynthia (DeLong) Checkowski of Chalfont PA Stephen DeLong of Landsdale PA and
Karen (DeLong) Lovell of Landsdale PA. Richard leaves nine grandchildren and one
great-grandchild as well as 3 step-children; Steven Amirault of CA Christopher Amirault
of CA and Michelle Amirault of MA and 3 step-grandsons. Survived by 2 sisters Betty and
Janice and predeceased by a brother George. Also predeceased by his parents James and
Mary (Steer) DeLong. A memorial service will be held at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange 1201Dunlawton Ave Friday August 28 2009 at 11:00 in the morning. Reception to follow In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Joseph's Indian School
