Richard Alan
Bickel
October 10, 1952 – March 28, 2026
Halifax Plantation Club House
Starts at 12:00 am (Eastern time)
“Rick” Richard Alan Bickel, 73, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026. He was born on October 10, 1952 in Harvey, Illinois. When he wasn’t taking care of his customers, Rick enjoyed golf, fishing, going to the beach, and, most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, caring father, loved family figure, and dedicated friend who never met a stranger in his life. His favorite place outside the house for the last 25 years was playing the links at Halifax Plantation with his brothers, sons, local friends, and lifelong buddies from high school. When it was time to drop the old jon boat in the water and catch a few redfish, it was in the backwaters of the intercoastal creeks. But for Rick, home was his sanctuary, sitting beside his wife and watching the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Betsy B. Bickel; son, Dan Bickel (wife, Allison Bickel); son, Charlie Harris (wife, Robin Harris); son, Rick Bickel, Jr. (wife, Tiffany Bickel); daughter, Molly Kiggen (husband, Paul Kiggen); brother, Joe Bickel (wife, Jean Bickel); brother, Dave Bickel (wife, Ann Bickel); sister, Margaret Rose (husband, Bill Rose); brother, Tom Bickel (wife, Teri Bickel); brother, Jim Bickel (wife, Joan Bickel); sister-in-law Susie Player, granddaughter, Evie Bickel (husband, Andrés Bustamante); granddaughter, Lilly Bickel; granddaughter, Sarah Bickel; grandson, Andrew Bickel; grandson, Jack Bickel; loyal friend, Scooter Bickel; and other extended family and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Rick’s Life held Thursday, July 9 at Halifax Plantation Club House located at 3400 Clubhouse Drive, Ormond Beach 32174. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Tunnels to Towers at t2t.org. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lohman Funeral Home, Ormond Beach, Florida.
