Obituary

Richard C. Armstrong, 89, Ormond Beach, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 216 Orange Avenue, Daytona Beach, with Father James D. Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park. His family will receive friends Wednesday, March 18, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Beach.
Richard was born July 19, 1925, in Cortlandville, N.Y. He was a World War II and Korean War Veteran and was proud to serve his country. Richard married the love of his life, Sydney Bolton, September 26, 1964 and was pre-deceased by her on March 31, 2008. The family moved to Ormond Beach in 1970.
Upon moving to Florida, Richard worked for Pantry Pride and A&P as a meat cutter for a short while. He found his true calling and became a Life and Health Insurance Agent owning Armstrong Insurance Agency in Ormond Beach retiring in 2006.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Family was most important to Richard. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening.
Richard is survived by six daughters, Hollie and Bruce Morehouse, Ormond Beach, Heather and Kevin Hudson, Ormond Beach, Sonya and Alfred Pileggi, Athens, Ga., Ellie Smith, Mineral Bluff, Ga., Elicia Spencer, Ithaca, N.Y. and Elaine and Bob Mays, Locke, N.Y.; sisters, Doris Hathaway, Daytona Beach, Shirley (Bob) Mays, Port Orange, and brother, Frank (Pauline) Satterly, Groton, N.Y. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Ruth, brothers, Larry, Charles, Harold, Bob, Roger and Don.
Ten grandchildren- Richard, Bruce, Brittany, Wade, Sara, Stefanie, Lisa, Bryan, Chris and Katie and ten great-grandchildren, Ethan, Sophie, Joshua, Rebekah, Hannah, Madison, Zachary, Richard, Peyton, and Bailey and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to American Cancer Society, Florida Hospital Hospice, Ormond Beach or St. Mary's Episcopal Church.
Arrangements are under the careful care of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
