Renita Mae
Bethell
Dec 25, 1928 — Dec 2, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Renita Mae Bethell share the news of her recent passing on December 2, 2019 at Port Orange, Florida. She was just in her 91 st year.
She was born in Portage, Ohio on December 25, 1928 to H. Leon Frank and Florence (Euler) Frank.
Renita attended Liberty City High School in Liberty City, Ohio, and graduated in 1948. She was known by her classmates as 'Nita', and recognized for her pretty long hair, Western songs and expert typing ability.
At the age of 27 Renita married Joseph R. Bethell on February 17, 1956 and moved to The Bahamas, where together, they raised 5 children, Reggie (Barb), Kathy (Randy) Regeana (Bradley), Keenan (Gabi) and Karen (Keith). She was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren, Alecia (Michael), Timothy (Laura), Blake (Jennifer), Kyle (Danielle), Amanda (Josh), Dominic (Nicole), Sarah, Joseph, Alethea, KC, Matt, Kyle, Ashley (Jamaal Sr.), Alanah (Delano Jr.), and Autumn-Rose; and loving great-grandmother to: Tegan, Samara, Cole, Noah, Lily, Kaitlyn, Madeline, Finn, Devan, Colin, Jacob, Damian, Vincent, Yahqira, Qeturah, and Jamaal Jr.
Renita had been a resident of The Bahamas for thirty-three years, and a resident of Florida for the last 30 years. She enjoyed frequent visits over the years to The Bahamas and Ontario, Canada.
Renita was predeceased by her husband 'Rannie' in 1984, her father in 1978 and her mother in 2006, as well as 6 of her 7 siblings, Glenn – 1973, Dean – 2001, Wayne – 2012, Beverly – 2016, Mary – 2018, and Rosalyn – 2019. She is survived by her brother Irvin Frank of Wauseon, Ohio, countless nieces and nephews, her children and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses and her great-grandchildren, as well as numerous friends, especially her special close friend Leonard and schoolmate Othella; and the Drs. & Nurses at DaVita Dialysis in Deland and South Daytona.
The bible describes the span of our life as 70 years, or 80 if one is especially strong. (Psalms 90:10). That definitely describes Renita; she demonstrated strength and a fighting spirit but always with a positive outlook and a ready smile.
