In Memoriam

A tribute: Renate Doris Prasad "Nana" (nee Waldbaur) 7 Aug 1939 – 26 September 2023.

A woman of substance- Mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister,
aunt, and a friend to many. Always ready to welcome one and all with a big hug, a
genuine smile and usually something endearing with that strong German accent. A hard
act to follow! Down to earth, a not so subtle often unfiltered sense of humor and never
one to mince words always ready with wise words of counsel when needed! Tough as
nails and resilient. Growing up in a bleak post war Germany, losing her mother early in
life, living most of her adult life in India while starting a family and ending in the US to be
closer to the family while it grew 3 generations. Her motto could well have been "to
adapt is to live". A culinary artist as famous for her black forest cake and goulash as for
her delectable sambhar and chicken curry. A woman with simple needs-family around
her, a glass (or 2 or 3) of red wine, a plate of schnitzel or spaetzle, apfelstrudel to follow,
Anderson Cooper with the news on TV, a good book and life was as good as it gets!
Her skills on her iPhone were legendary and surely had Steve Jobs smiling. She
followed all her grandchildren regularly on social media and her classic "Nana"
comments on their sites will certainly be missed for their unique and sometimes
unintended humor!

Farewell Mom, Nana, Renee- you did really good. You lived life to the fullest and you
will be missed by the ones you left behind. While you raise that glass of red wine with
the angels and your life mate "Puttu" Prasad, around a typical Prasad table filled with
goodies you created, we toast you and are eternally grateful for the gift of your life and
enduring love. This is as much a celebration of your life as it is a mourning of your passing.

Rest in peace,

Sandy, Steve, Rahul and Sonya
