Obituary

Renata Elizabeth McCarthy transitioned on April 17, 2026, to be in Paradise with Jesus!

She was born in New York City on February 26, 1949, to Alfred Andrade and Juanita Andrade - and was the middle child, alongside her sister, Camille, and her brother, Mahmoud.

Renata was primarily educated in the New York City schools, graduating from Julia Richmond High School, and was raised a Catholic. Her elementary school years were actually spent at the St. Paul School.

Her first marriage did not last. But Renata ultimately found love, tying the knot with Victor James “Jimmy” McCarthy - and the two becoming a family, while nurturing their children, Chevion, Sabrina, Brandie, Kaz, and Jay.

Renata gave huge, annual barbecues at home in Queens - an open invitation for friends and neighbors to share Renata's magnificent cooking. Nevertheless, she loved her family foremost, and her family loved her dearly.

“Love” was her life's intertwining thread, laced with a nurturing spirit, quiet strength, as well as loyalty.

She was super magnanimous of being generous, and because she had a “green thumb,” she gave neighbors homegrown tomatoes, rooted in the growth of her garden.

She was employed by Knickerbocker Hospital, and, later, was part of the team for the New York City Department of Restitution.

In 2000, Renata and Jimmy laid down roots in Palm Coast, Florida, where Renata enjoyed shopping like she did in the North. Her taste mixed with estate sales, thrift store and online shopping, and eventually the shopping app, Temu. She also found adventure at RV resorts, and cruising the Caribbean.

It was heartbreaking upon Jimmy's untimely death.

After some time, Renata accepted a job with Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare. And, she became a member of the Usher Board at the First A.M.E. Church. She was enrolled as a senior at the Flagler County Senior Center, and was sensitive to provide inspiration to an individual who needed it.

She absolutely loved worshiping at Calvary Christian Center, attending services sometimes solo, and, other times, Renata escorted her grandchildren, as well as a young woman seeking direction from God. Renata was baptized at Calvary Christian Center. She was a woman who loved the Lord, and she knew Him for herself!

Renata was predeceased by her husband, Victor James “Jimmy” McCarthy, and her parents, Alfred and Juanita Andrade.

Cherishing Renata's legacy are her children: Chevion (Eligio “Lee”), Sabrina, Brandie (Anthony), Kaz (Neashia), and Jay (Samantha “Sam”); grandchildren: Jordan, Kiarra, Kristian, Kalynn (Ilianis), Anissa, Kobi, Jason, Camron, Jaden, Jayla, Ka' Niece, Nyoka, Noah, Jace, Cayden, Christian, and Jaleel; greatgrandchildren: Aulora, and Armani; siblings: Camille (James) Wrice, Mahmoud (Nermeen) Ibrahim; and other family and friends.
