Raymond E. Wachter 93 passed away peacefully at home Sunday December 5 2010. A visitation will take place at the Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange on Thursday December 9 from 1:00 -2:00 pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 pm; burial will follow the service at Daytona Memorial Park. Ray was born in Newark New Jersey; he was the only child of Emil and Mary (Bermingham) Wachter. He resided with his wife and family in Scotch Plains New Jersey until his retirement. He loved to sail and spent summers at their home on Long Beach Island New Jersey. Ray graduated from the Juilliard School of Music and received his Masters Degree from Columbia University. He served as a warrant officer and band leader in the United States Army during World War II. He taught instrumental music in the Millburn-Short Hills School District and was an accomplished trumpeter and conductor. In his retirement he enjoyed playing poker with his buddies. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Millie son Douglas daughter Jean and two grandchildren Brent and Kelley. Arrangements are under the entrusted care of Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange.
